During the reporting period it has been concentrated in enhancement of leadership quality of the youth, men, women & villagers though a series of capacity building program. Hence capacity Building program be imparted among the focal group especially the youth leadership training & consumer legal aid training to enhance the capacity of the youth. In order to strengthen the youth & women members LORD has evolved support strategies which includes conducting regular exposure, training’s meetings, general body meetings & visiting, To develop capacities and leadership of women members a special attempt has been made by the organization. The disabled cadres are also trained to take up more & more responsibility at this level.
Agriculture is the backbone of rural economy and more than 60 percent of rural population depends on agriculture as livelihood. To sensitize the farmers on technological innovation in agriculture development, one day training programme was organized in Manjuripara village under Gondia block of Dhenkanal district where 33 local small farmers participated in this programme. After the training programme one farmers Club has been formed and necessary efforts to strengthen the club initiated during the reporting period.
The problems faced by disabled persons in Dhenkanal & Jajpur district of Odisha are many and multifaceted in nature. The disabled persons are considered as a burden and unproductive. In Dhenkanal district nearly 25% of the total populations are disabled. The disability in the area is mostly caused by malnutrition and lack of pre and postnatal care. As the district is one of the most backward districts of the country dominated by tribal population lack of awareness and education are found to be the significant factors contributing to the disability trend in the district LORD to initiate community based rehabilitation programme in the district for the people with disability organized consultations and a survey of disable persons in Kamakshya Nager & Gondia block of Dhenkanal district and found 54 disabled are in need of special services under rehabilitation programme soon after the survey LORD organized a Panchyata level awareness programme and meeting of disabled person to identify the actual need and problems they face.
Oneness in feeling and boldness in action is the edifice upon which ‘LORD” volunteer’s stand. They are working at grass-root level to develop self-help groups so that a self reliant village scene will emerge in the future. They are very much hopeful of a time when people would be able to tackle their problems on their own through mutual help and cooperation, when there will be exploitation and oppression by the vested groups. There will be an effect to do away with the social maladies and orthodox beliefs prevailing today that mars the development process. To remove illiteracy and combat ignorance efforts will be made in profession community education centers with multifarious objectives. To give a boost to village artisans and local entrepreneurship potentialities, “LORD” volunteers to be facilitated in upgrading their skills and knowledge, efforts will be made to plan as per needs of the area and weaker sections.
